Hive Avenue Literary Journal

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

Hive Avenue will accept 100 free submissions each month. Beyond that, submissions will be accepted with a $2.00 fee. Submissions will open April 8, 2024 for a late Fall 2024 issue.

All submissions are required to be original, previously unpublished works and must be submitted electronically.

The theme for the Fall 2024 issue is Connection/Unity/Belonging. Submit work that in some way ties in with one of these themes.

Hive Avenue wants to represent writers from all around – there is no geographical requirement, but you MUST be an undergraduate student to be considered.

Simultaneous submissions are welcome (and recommended). Please do let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Multiple submissions within a single genre are not permitted; however, we do accept multiple submissions in separate genres. Physical submissions will not be accepted.

Hive Avenue seeks to foster a diverse range of voices and perspectives. Submissions should respect the dignity and rights of individuals and communities. We encourage submissions that explore complex themes and topics with sensitivity and thoughtfulness. We do not accept work that contains graphic violence, explicit sexual content, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate material. This includes but is not limited to hate speech, discrimination, and derogatory language.

All submissions will be kept confidential and will not be shared outside of the Hive Avenue staff.
